John Cooper would soon create a Mini Cooper S version. The engine now had 1,071 cm³ and produced 70 hp. It was at this time that the predominance of sports cars began in the Monte Carlo rally series. Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon won the rally prize in 1964.
